About
From market research to data and AI systems

I am from the Dominican Republic and live in Cologne. I speak Spanish, English and German. I started in quantitative market research, studied economics at the University of Konstanz, and have worked in analytics, data science and data engineering at OneMagnify since 2018.
Background
I began in quantitative market research in the Dominican Republic: at a research network, at a telecom operator and as an independent researcher for agencies. The work was descriptive at first: samples, questionnaires and survey analysis. Doing it better meant learning statistics and econometrics, then methods such as conjoint analysis, logistic regression and churn prediction. Operations research and decision science did not arrive through one course; they were the older names for what the work already required. I studied economics at the University of Konstanz alongside the later research years, then moved into analytics roles in Cologne, where the descriptive work became predictive and then part of production systems. Experience lists the roles.
How I work
I work from the decision backwards: what has to be decided, which predictions that depends on, which relationships drive those, and only then what needs to be measured. In practice that means establishing a baseline, changing a process, usually through software, and measuring the result.
Ship it as software
The intervention usually arrives as software with two halves. The front end is design for people: interfaces that fit how they already work, so the change is accepted and used. The back end is design for reliability: pipelines, APIs and services that keep working when it matters.
The team that keeps it running
Changes last when a team owns them. That takes management: leading by example, coaching, setting standards and keeping priorities straight. I try to be the manager I would like to have, one who makes the team’s work easier and more enjoyable.
Current focus
- At work I introduced AI-assisted development and agentic automation to the team and build chatbot and agent interfaces on cloud data platforms.
- Outside work I built this site’s publishing system, with an API and an MCP interface, with AI assistance.
- I am currently learning agent harnesses, retrieval-based application design, and how models are trained and served.
A note on AI assistance
I use AI tools to draft, structure and test text on this site and in my work. I review and edit the result and I am responsible for what is published.
